DARCY FLUX & AVERAGE GROUNDWATER VELOCITY CALCULATOR

Darcy's Law, as reviewed in a previous newsletter, is the basis for calculating both the Darcy flux, and the average groundwater velocity.  In this newsletter we present the first in a line of hydrogeologic calculators that will be available from the GroundwaterSoftware.com website.  This calculator requires the gradient, conductivity and porosity as input.  A review of these parameters is given in the Darcy's Law newsletter.  All three parameters are required to complete the calculation, although if porosity is not available and Darcy's flux is the only desired output, simply entering a dummy porosity will allow the calculator to complete the calculations, and the Darcy's flux that will be output remains correct.

Average Linear Velocity:

Note: Units of Darcy flux and average linear velocity are the same as those used for conductivity

There are many resources available for more information on Darcy flux and average groundwater velocity.  For this newsletter the following textbook was used:

Fetter, C.W. (1994).  Applied Hydrogeology, Third Edition.  Published by Prentice-Hall Inc.,  New Jersey, USA.

AquiferWin32 is a sophisticated, easy-to-use software system for the analysis and display of aquifer test results.  Unlike many other aquifer test software packages, AquiferWin32 has many features that emphasizes doing the analysis and getting the solutions and presentations YOU are looking for.

AquiferWin32 - All about YOU!

YOU choose what to compare

YOU choose what solutions you want available

YOU choose how you would like to match curves

YOU choose what the final presentation will look like

YOU choose what to compare

AquiferWin32 displays an unlimited number of type curves for multiple type curve techniques.  You specify which type curves you want to view.

YOU choose what the final presentation will look like

AquiferWin32 has many options for presenting your results.  No other pumping test analysis software is more customizable with respect to legends, printed headers and footers. It also has symbol control on each and every data point and the generation of traditional type curve suites as seen in the literature.
